Currently reading

The Edge of Always (The Edge of Never, #2)
J.A. Redmerski
Sh*tty Mom: The Guide for Good-Enough Moms - Mary Ann Zoellner, Laurie Kilmartin, Karen Moline, Alicia Ybarbo This book is so me. That's pretty sad but I loved it!

Creed (Unfinished Hero, #2)

Creed (Unfinished Hero, #2) - Kristen Ashley 4.5 stars. Creed and Sylvie have really touched my heart. Two perfectly matched badasses! I rank Creed as #2 among my favorite Kristen Ashley heroes. (Tate from Sweet Dreams is still my #1)

A young Tucker Creed and even younger Sylvie literally bump in each other in the dark woods one night, both trying escape an unhappy home life. They are able to find comfort in each other and become instant friends. Over the years their relationship grows from childhood best friends to something much more undeniable.

"He said the five most precious words I ever heard in my whole life.
"I wanna make you mine."- Teenage Sylvie

Their plans to run away together on Sylvie 18th birthday are interrupted by a terrible event the ends up pulling them apart, each not knowing that 16 years would pass before fate would bring them back together.

"I fell over the side of the bed, getting my feet under me and coming up in a crouch, hand up, arms resting on the bed, gun pointed across the room.
I saw him and froze solid.
No fucking way."

Time has been unkind and has changed them both, sweet Sylvie is now a gun toting, badass P.I. Still Creed is determined to have his Sylvie back no matter what.

"Then and now, beautiful, I'll take you any way you come to me." His hands in my hair shook my head gently. "Any way. I love this Sylvie. I loved that Sylvie. I just love you, baby."

Sylvie and Creed each struggle with how to make peace with what happened between them 16 years ago but no matter what some people are just destined to be together.

"Do you know what love is?"
"Yes I do. I do know what love is, Creed."
"I do too, baby. I absolutely do."- Young Creed and Sylvie.

Great book! Loved Creed and Sylvie rocks!

Reckless (Thoughtless, #3)

Reckless (Thoughtless, #3) - S.C. Stephens I really took my time reading this one and looking back, I loved every second of this series. This book was exactly the emotional roller coaster I expected it to be. Reckless was about healing, growth and redemption especially for Kiera. Her maturity level was much higher than the last two books. She owned up her mistakes, worked on her flaws and didn't make excuses. Kiera was determined to no longer be the "wishy-washy girl". She was tested many times and passed in my opinion. She knew what she wanted and decided to stake her claim!

"I hopped on Kellan's lap, slinging my arms around his neck. Back off, bitches."

So for that she "Rocks" and makes the list! (A shocking turn of events considering my first review of her!)

As always, Kellan was the perfect combination of adorable and panty melting.

"...I want to make you laugh, I want to make you blush,...I want to make you scream...I just want you. Do you want me to?"

I loved him already and this book just kept reminding me why! This story was shocking, heartbreaking, hilarious and sweet (in no particular order and sometimes all at once).

"So much can go wrong when you hold your heart out to another..."

...and sometimes so much can go right! I cried at least 3 times maybe more. I've really enjoyed their journey. One of my favorite couples for sure!

True Love Story

True Love Story - Willow Aster

5+++++ I loved this book. It is the story of Sparrow and Ian. Two people who continue to cross paths over a 5 year period where they share a lot of good times and some not so good ones too. The attraction between them is instant.

Sparrow’s thoughts of Ian… “You…are…trouble.”

Ian’s thoughts of Sparrow… “You’re going to break my heart, Sparrow Fisher.” And I think, Not before you break mine.-Sparrow.”

They learn that there is a steep age difference between them. Ian is an established singer/songwriter and rising rock star/ featured guitarist with other bands. Sparrow is just starting college. Their new relationship faces the struggles of constant separation, Ian is always traveling to different gigs around the country and Sparrow has to stay behind to finish school. There are many things Sparrow still is naive about and Ian's evasiveness doesn't help many of the ignored issues between them. All they know for sure is that they want to be together.

"I want Ian more than food or water. More than air.”- Sparrow

We learn in the first chapter that something has happened in their relationship to cause two years of separation between them…

"I sent him away. I’m mad that he went.- Sparrow"

They run into each other by chance at the airport and are about the board the same flight. Ian and Sparrow struggle with restraining those strong feelings of need for each other that have never gone away.

“He looks sleepy and obscene; I want to slap him and wrap my arms and legs around him and breathe his air…- Sparrow”

We do know that whatever happened between them was big!

“ I've never stopped loving you, Sparrow Fisher... I've never loved anyone but you.”
“It doesn't matter, Ian. Love…it means nothing at this point.”

Can their true love story end happily ever after or will we learn that sometimes love isn't enough?

My thoughts:

Ian is a heart breaker, and he had me at hello! I could relate to Sparrow’s naivety and how clueless she was about life. There were so many issues that needed to be discussed between them and it never occurred to her to ask questions until it was too late, which was frustrating. They were both blind and needed to grow and learn from their many mistakes, and oh man did they!

Breathe (Colorado Mountain, #4)

Breathe (Colorado Mountain, #4) - Kristen Ashley Loved it of course! Review to come!
Beautiful Bastard - Christina Lauren Entertaining and funny though I would have liked a little more story development, it just seemed to be missing something that would have pushed it over the top. There were a lot of good moments especially when Bennett and Chloe fought with each other. Matched perfectly! Very steamy between them too which is always a plus!

Grounded (Up In The Air, #3)

Grounded (Up In The Air, #3) - R.K. Lilley Again Mr. Cavendish was amazing, quirky, intense, sweet and sexy all at the same time. Taking chances and learning to trust was a big lesson for everyone. A great ending to Bianca, James and Stephan's story!

Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain, #3)

Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain, #3) - Kristen Ashley 4.5 stars! Another hit! Sweet Dreams is still in the number 1 slot, but in this one you do get to hear a lot more about Tate, Lauren, Nina, Max and gang from Bubba's and La La Land! Their connections weave together pretty tightly. I seriously want to move to Carnal, Colorado! Some of the subject matter was a little rough but overall Ty is a doll and Lexie is a "goof" but I liked her! The epilogue made me smile the whole way through!

Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain, #2)

Sweet Dreams - Kristen Ashley 5 stars! I loved it way more than The Gamble (which I thought was good too). There was so much story going on that it felt like I was reading a multiple book series about Tate and Lauren. The secondary characters were really well developed, I felt like I knew them and loved them (well most of the them), they weren't crazy like the ones in Gnaw Bone. Really good story in general, it was journey, not the straight forward girl meets guy, fall in love and lives HEA. You see the work it takes to get there.

Once I got used to Tate and his ways, I loved him. He is a no B.S. bad ass biker, bounty hunter, alpha male, plain and simple.

Only Tate can be totally mushy one minute and over it the next yet still sound OK doing it.

"All right, Ace, this is done,” he announced quietly.
“What?”
“These heart to hearts.”
“Oh,” I whispered, disappointed because I kind of liked them. “Okay.”
“We get it now,” he explained. “We don’t need ‘em.”

Kind of a jerk thing to say, yes, but totally Tate.

There were so many things about Tate to love besides being hot, he's a good person who proves that he would do anything for those that he loves (and does). Lauren comes into her own as well. Both are list makers, I love Tate and Lauren rocks!

Another favorite quote...

...I whispered “You okay?”
"Fuck no,” he replied, not whispering at all.
“Is there something I can do?” I asked.
“You’re doin’ it,” he stated.
“I am?” I asked.
“You love me?” he asked.
“Yes,” I answered instantly.
“That’s it, you’re doin’ it,” he finished.

A must read!

The Gamble (Colorado Mountain, #1)

The Gamble (Colorado Mountain, #1) - Kristen Ashley 4.5 stars
Aside from the town being full of a bunch of loonies, I enjoyed it. A good diversion after the heavy emotional stuff. I think I'll be spending a lot more time in Kristen Ashley Land in the future.
Reaper's Property - Joanna Wylde I liked this one but what I learned is that bikers are not for me! I need to be respected a little more than that but I could see the appeal. There is something hot I guess about being claimed as "property" by a bad ass Alpha as long as he's not psycho with it. Horse wasn't humble enough about his feelings for Marie in my opinion. I would have liked him better if he'd opened up to her a lot more. I liked Undeniable much better. Their bikers although just as messed up seemed like better people. I'll still follow this series if there is one though.

Cloud Walking (Find You in the Dark, #1.5)

Cloud Walking (Find You in the Dark, #1.5) - A. Meredith Walters I ate this book up! Just try not to make it about Maggie and Clay (they'll have their time again). Let all your focus be on Rachel and Danny! What we learn is that feelings were mutual between them and it just took them a while to figure it out. This was just what I needed after reading a downer book. I loved that it was short and full of emotions just waiting to burst and when they finally did it was awesome!

Favorite quotes:

"I want to feel like we're walking on clouds when we are together. Like I'm the girl he wants."

"Baby girl, you deserve some cloud walkin'."

AND

"If I have ever made you feel less crucial in my life, I apologize. Because you are important to me. Actually important doesn't even cover it. You are fundamental to who I am. There is no Daniel Lowe without Rachel Bradfield." gaaah!!

Can't wait for Light in the Shadows! March can't get here fast enough!!
The Redhead Revealed (Redhead, #2) - Alice Clayton I loved this series. Grace rocks! I envy her! Jack is heart stopping and panty melting! I'm not even going to write a whole review with quotes and a recap. No need. The best! Read it!

How to Kill a Rock Star

How to Kill a Rock Star - Tiffanie DeBartolo I have so many emotions about this book right now that I need time to process them all. AMAZING! Detailed review coming soon!

The Unidentified Redhead (Redhead, #1)

The Unidentified Redhead (Redhead, #1) - Alice Clayton First let me simply state: I LOVED IT!

HOT! HOT! HOT!

It's been ten years since Grace's unsuccessful attempt to make it as an actor. Determined, she returns to L.A. a little older (if you call can 33 years old), thinner, and wiser. She has a chance meeting one night with Hollywood's "next big thing", British hottie Jack Hamilton. His first big U.S. movie is about to be released in a few months and everyone says it will skyrocket his career to super star status.

After their first meeting Jack spares no time letting it be known he's interested in crazy and outspoken Grace. The chemistry between the two is undeniable.

"We never stood a chance trying to fight this..."- Grace.

The problem is Jack is only 24 years old, why would this gorgeous "It" boy be interested in Grace when he has younger and perkier girls constantly throwing themselves at him? My girl Grace decides to choose confidence over insecurity!

"Twenty-four-year-olds were my new favorite thing. I needed to tell Oprah to put that on her list."- Grace

"Crazy, what are you trying to do to me?" he sighed...- Jack

...and soon nothing else matters. Grace only wants Jack and he wants her just as bad!

"Sex God, Wonder Tongue, Mr. Multiple but boyfriend sounds good.- Grace

Grace must stay focused on her own career goals, battle cougar accusations and the urge to stay wrapped in a blissful bubble with Jack. Both of their lives are about to change, will it bring them closer together or pull them apart.

My favorite quote:
"I continued to stare at him marveling at how lucky I was to have him, and I realized, with a start, that he was lucky to have me too."

How do I really feel?:
Did I mention already that this book was... HOT! Some of the best non sex scenes I have ever read along with the real stuff of course! Holy Mama!

This book was so funny, and just perfect to me! No dizzy complications, just a fun ride! I admired everything about Grace. She's the perfect combination of confident, sexy and goofy. She pretty much clubbed Jack over the head and dragged him away, and he didn't stand a chance! I've never had a girl crush before but I do now! I love that Alice Clayton writes such strong female characters. Her books are an automatic read for me going forward . Grace is a list maker "Girls Who Rock!" I also think I'm going to steal some of her moves, too!

Jack was dreamy, sexy as hell and silly. He and Grace just complimented each other so well. He's a list maker "Guys I'm in love with." Alice Clayton just knows how to create men that I would fall for. I love a man who is sexy, silly and carries just enough Alpha without tipping over into controlling, Jack was perfect. I'm starting the sequel now!

Find You in the Dark (Find You in the Dark, #1)

Find You in the Dark (Find You in the Dark, #1) - A. Meredith Walters 4.5 stars.

Maggie is your average high school senior with a seemingly perfect life, and it's boring her to death. That is until she literally bumps into Clayton Reed, the new guy in school.

"What the hell?" The guy growled, stooping to pick up the items he had dropped in our bodily fender bender...

"Oh I'm sorry, did I miss the stop sign." I fired back...

It's safe to say their first meeting was less than pleasant. Clay is all anyone can talk about, he's the hot and mysterious loner that never really talks except to trade insults with Maggie. When he finally does acknowledge other people he's usually moody and rude. For some reason Maggie is still drawn to him. Their odd friendship quickly changes when they fall hard and fast for each other, to the dismay of her family and friends.

"And Clay, for all of his flaws was my future. Whether my family and friends agreed or not.-Maggie

Maggie's relationship with Clay becomes her world. She repeatedly disobeys her parents rules, she stops hanging out with her friends, and misses cross country practice constantly, jeopardizing her hopes of a scholarship. She only wants Clay.

"Was all first love this intense?" - Maggie

Maggie tries her best to penetrate the walls that Clay has built around himself in order to get to the bottom of his mood swings. One minute he's fun, sweet and loving, next he's quiet and recluse, then he's angry and mean.

"...if I loved him, I had to love all parts of who he was."- Maggie

We start to learn that Clay is suffering from mental illness, (but I don't think that's a surprise to anyone...) Maggie is the only person in Clay's life that he feels he can trust with his secrets. He starts to become dependent on his time with her to keep him stable and less on his medication.

"This is all I need, Mags. Just you and me, together.- Clay"

Needless to say, things start to spiral down hill fast! Clay's behavior becomes erratic and unpredictable. He's self destructive and scaring the crap out of Maggie!

"No you didn't..." "Are you fucking crazy!"-Maggie
"Yes, Maggie. I am FUCKING CRAZY!-Clay priceless!

Maggie is in waaay over her head and she knows it!

"Clay, I love you. I love every single part of you. I need you to hold it together. Do it for me if not for yourself."

Maggie feels like she's losing him and she is terrified.

"I couldn't handle sitting by and watching the boy I love slowly slip away into the darkness of his mind.

Can she help him and more importantly will he let her?

How do I really feel?
This was a difficult subject. How do you love someone with a mental illness? It's clear that Clay didn't mean to behave the way he did, it's part of his sickness. Maggie knows that but it doesn't make his actions hurt any less. There were times that I wanted to hug Clay and tell him everything was going to be OK. Other times I wanted to choke him out! This is a hard road for them. I really can't wait for the sequel!
